Customer Drop-off

The Guysborough Waste Management Facility constructed a customer drop-off/reuse facility for residents to delivery waste to the site. The facility is located just off the scale, and is paved, and sheltered, to make it as clean, and accommodating for our residents as possible. The facility has five (5) large labeled containers that staff request residents to separate their loads into (appropriate container). The reuse facility is a garage attached to the drop-off. Residents are asked to place any reusable items in the reuse center. Others can remove these items if of use to them. If someone is looking for a particular item, staff can keep an eye out for it. The site does not permit the scavenging through the large stock piles for liability and safety reasons.

Large bulky items are picked up curbside weekly; residents are asked to only put out 1 & 2 items each week, and to please break these items down as small as possible.
HHW, C&D, and organic materials is a drop-off program only; no curbside collection, HHW does a mobile pick up.
 

Rejection Tag Program

Rejection tags are used by the Municipality’s Garbage Collector. Any solid waste clear bag containing any banned material or HHW will be left at curbside with a florescent green error sticker, explaining why your bag was not picked up. Also, any recycling blue bag with contaminates, mixed bags, organic material, items which are not recyclable, HHW or solid waste will also be left at curbside with florescent orange sticker explaining why your recyclable bag was left at curbside. These bags will also be rejected if delivered to the Landfill. If you should require further clarification you can call our Hotline at 1-888-232-2316.
