Weight Loss Challenge in Hazel Hill
November 21, 2011
The Weight Loss Challenge in Hazel Hill is a growing success. Since September 2011, a partnership between the municipality of Guysborough’s Recreation Department, Eastern Memorial Hospital and Public Health, Hazel Hill have seen 85 people become dedicated to their health through lifestyle changes.
The participants from across the county, (New Harbour to Canso and all points in between!) have identified different learning opportunities for themselves, therefore choices in the program have been given to them to meet their personal needs. Some have chosen just to attend for the nutrition presentations, whereas others want to participate in all aspects of the program that we have to offer.
From these 85 people, between 55 & 65 people are regularly choosing weigh-ins weekly. In saying that, to date (end of week 8), those participants are now 383.3 lbs lighter and 96.25 inches smaller (at week 6)! Whoo-hoo! Way to go!!!
A huge congratulations is going out from the leaders to the participants for choosing to become healthier through good nutrition and exercise as we all know that in order to stay healthy this is the only route to take.
We have our final weigh-ins and measurements on week 11 (for those who chose to) and are so excited to share the final results at our finale night on December 6th, 2011.
We hope every participant continues their positive life changes but, most of all we wish them and their families a new and healthy start to life
