MAINTENANCE MECHANIC / OPERATOR
The Municipality of the District of Guysborough has an immediate opening for one (1) Maintenance Mechanic / Operator. This is a full-time, permanent position with a six month probationary period and a start date of April 2, 2012. The normal working hours will be Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (40 hours/week, 1 hr lunch break).
The Maintenance Mechanic / Operator is responsible for maintaining the Municipality’s heavy equipment, vehicles, waste collection trucks, pumps and grounds equipment as well as for operating the waste collection trucks and heavy equipment on an as-required basis.
A Grade 12 Diploma and a Class 3 driver’s license with airbrake endorsement and an acceptable driver’s abstract are required for this position. Certified Diesel Mechanic/maintenance or other related licenses for heavy equipment and trucks as well as experience in welding and hydraulic repairs are considered an asset. The individual should be certified in safety practices for installing and inspecting wheels and tires on trucks and trailers. Experience with collection vehicle operation, waste management procedures, equipment maintenance and safety and heavy duty trucks and heavy equipment are assets. The starting salary for this position is $38,506. COLLECTION VEHICLE OPERATOR
The Municipality of the District of Guysborough has an immediate opening for one (1) Collection Vehicle Operator. This is a full-time, permanent position with a six month probationary period and a start date of April 2, 2012. The normal working hours will be Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (40 hours/week, ½ hr lunch break).
The Collection Vehicle Operator is responsible for operating and maintaining the Municipality’s solid waste collection vehicles and for loading/unloading, sorting and hauling waste, recyclables and organics from the collection routes to the Waste Management Site.
A Grade 12 Diploma and a Class 3 driver’s license with airbrake endorsement and an acceptable driver’s abstract are required for this position. Experience with collection vehicle operation, waste management procedures, equipment maintenance, heavy duty trucks and equipment safety are considered assets. The starting salary for this position is $36,580. RETURNING OFFICER
The Municipality of the District of Guysborough requires the services of a Returning Officer who will be responsible for the general direction and supervision over the administrative conduct of the Municipal and School Board Election to be held in October 2012.
The position requires an individual with skills and experience in the areas of:
Project Management - planning, organizing, meeting deadlines, etc.
Human Resource Management - supervision, training, selections, etc.
Financial Management - budget administration, financial reporting, etc.
Provincial Legislation - experience in interpreting and working with legislation, knowledge and experience with Municipal Elections Act would be an asset.
